This pilgrimage on the Via di San Francesco starts from the area of Tifernate, dominated by Città di Castello, to reach Assisi, crossing the area of Pietralunga and Gubbio that gently slopes towards the birthplace of the Saint.
It’s a long and demanding route in some places, so the intermediate stages of Pietralunga and Valfabbrica are fundamental. In Città di Castello we recommend a visit to the Diocesan Museum, the Burri Museum and the Duomo. Do not miss the visit to the Franciscan Hermitage of Buon Riposo
1st day
Departure from Città di Castello for Pieve de Saddi about 20 km (challenging route).Visit the Church of Pieve de Saddi and continue to Pietralunga (about 8 km). Visit the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Rimedi. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Departure from Pietralunga for Loreto and continue to Gubbio 25 km approx (challenging route). Lying on the slopes of Mount Ingino, the city of Gubbio is linked to the episode of the wolf tamed by the Saint. Do not miss a visit to the Church and the Convent of San Francesco. Dinner and Overnight
3rd day
Departure from Gubbio for Biscina 20/22 km approx (challenging route). Leaving the city you can admire S. Maria della Vittorina, the church that always reminds us of Francis' encounter with the "wolf". Along the route we recommend a stop at the Abbey of Vallingegno and the Castle of Biscina. Overnight in Biscina.
4th day
Departure from Biscina to Valfabbrica 13 km approx. Important stage along the way on the way of S. Francesco who often stayed in Valfabbrica. Dinner and overnight
