DAY 1 - WELCOME TO UMBRIA! - SANTA MARIA DEGLI ANGELI

Arrival in Umbria and accommodation in agriturismo - accommodation in a standard double/twin room, free lunch and visit to Santa Maria degli Angeli.Inside the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, at the foot of Assisi, is the "Portiuncula", a small church restored by St. Francis in which, in 1209, the saint founded the Order of Friars Minor, entrusting it to the protection of the Virgin Mary. The Portiuncula is the heart of Franciscanism, the place where Francis discussed the order's 'Rule' with his friars and sought new blood for preaching the Gospel in the world. The courtyard of roses is also housed in the Basilica. According to the sources, one night Francis, gripped by doubt and temptation, rolled among the brambles in the Rose Garden to test himself and not give in to what could have separated him from God and his mission. On contact with the saint's skin, the roses changed into thornless roses, giving rise to the 'Rosa Canina Assisiensis', which has continued to bloom only at the Portiuncula since then.

DAY 2 - RIVER RAFTING ADVENTURE IN VALNERINA WITH LUNCH VISIT TO THE MARMORE WATERFALL IN THE AFTERNOON

This morning we will have an experience of great emotional impact, amidst adrenalin and ever-changing landscapes in a few strokes of the oar; river rafting is definitely one of the most fun and exciting activities to be enjoyed in Umbria. On board an unsinkable dinghy, accompanied by our expert instructor, we will embark on an adventurous descent on torrents, propelled by the water currents, through places of great naturalistic interest that would otherwise be inaccessible: rock walls, waterfalls, woods and large meadows. All the equipment necessary for the experience will be provided (wetsuit, jackets, helmets and inneoprene shoes) and on arrival from the descent you will find changing rooms with hot showers.)A few kilometres and we reach the Marmore Falls, which, with its 165 metres divided into 3 jumps, is the second highest artificial waterfall in Europe. The waterfall is part of the Terni Valnerina territory and the Nera River Park, also known as the Parco Fluviale delle Acque (Water Park), a protected area that finds its point of excellence in the Cascata itself: an environment extraordinarily rich in cultural, historical and environmental evidence. You will have time to independently visit the waterfall's paths, relax at one of the many viewpoints, refresh yourself at a refreshment point, buy some souvenirs, and above all take photos and selfies to take with you the extraordinary beauty of this place. Free visit of the Cascata delleMarmore. Entrance ticket included.

DAY 3 - FREE TOUR OF ASSISI WITH LUNCH IN A RESTAURANTQUAD BIKE ADVENTURE WITH APERITIF IN THE WOODS

Pax et Bonum! This is the greeting with which Assisi welcomes you, a Franciscan place par excellence, not only in Umbria and Italy, but throughout the world. In fact, St Francis was born in Assisi in 1182; in the place where he is believed to have been born, today stands the Chiesa Nuova. It is in Assisi that he was baptised, in the Cathedral of San Rufino, it is among its alleys that he spent his youth dreaming of a future as a valiant knight, it is here, where the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore stands today, in the Piazza del Vescovado, that he stripped himself, repudiating earthly goods for love of God and his brothers. It is still in Assisi, in the Church of San Damiano, that praying before the crucifix, he receives the task of renewing Christ's Church, it is in the town square that he begins his preaching and his work of charity and peace, and it is finally here that he dies in 1226.His remains are preserved in the Basilica of San Francesco, but the saint still lives in every stone of Assisi. Stroll through its enchanting alleys and visit the Franciscan sites. Audio guide available for hire inside the Basilica of St Francis. In the afternoon we will have an exciting experience, we will visit the nature surrounding Assisi and MonteSubasio on a quad bike. Riding a quad bike surrounded by greenery is a truly incredible experience! Few can resist the temptation to return after trying it only once. Its versatility, combined with the ease of riding even with two people, make it a fun means of transport on any terrain: mud, stones, water, the quad bike doesn't ask for anything better! Moreover, no special driving skills are required: after the first few metres you will already be able to move with confidence, and as soon as you have covered the first few kilometres you won't want to get out of the saddle! The excursion is guided along a nature trail of about 1 hour with a pleasant stop in the San Francesco forest, in the midst of nature, for a tasty aperitif included.

DAY 4 - FREE VISIT OF PERUGIA - GOODBYE!

Perugia, the capital of the Umbria region, is worth a visit not only for the beauty of its hilltop location, but also for its beautiful ancient buildings. Before coming under Roman rule, ancient Perusia was one of the twelve cities of the Etruscan federation, and considerable sections of the Etruscan walls, which stretched 2,800 metres around the town, have been preserved. Perugia is known to the art world as the centre of the Umbrian School of Painting in the 15th and 16th centuries and its greatest exponents, Pietro Vannucci (known as Perugino) and Bernardino Betti (known as Pinturicchio) worked here. The young Raphael worked in Perugino's studio until 1504. You will find works by all three in the churches and public buildings of Perugia.
